Development of Version 1


Okay. First time doing this but I want to improve so let's talk about how this was developed.

This game was developed in RPG Maker MX. The game was planned to be developed in RichCast, a coding program in which I have some experience. However, RichCast is still early in development and right now the team behind it are making sure it is good before they expand it to be used by other platforms. So it quickly couldn't be used as an option.

I then turned to Unreal Engine to use for development, as again, I had some experience with it. However I have only been trained in some aspects of Unreal, so that was quickly dismissed as an option due to my specialisation.

I had heard that RPG Maker MX was good for developing games and easy to use for new people. I found it on Steam and purchased everything, expensive even at discount but the long term value of having this program seemed worth it. Due to the software change, the original story of the game had to be changed dramatically so it could work.

I quickly made a game for the submission in two days, using quite a few premade assets and maps so there was something to submit. This project has helped me gain experience in RPG Maker and also itch.io the platform itself as this is my first game jam submission.

I hope to do an update in the summer firstly for the narrative and then for the visuals of the game.
